The Cultural Shift for Social Media in 2010
Posted on | December 30, 2009 | No Comments
We have just gone through one of the most interesting years for the web. We saw the once king of social media fall, the new king firmly take it’s place, and Google dominating in almost every area. But what does this all mean for 2010, and more importantly what does this mean for You, and your business.
2010 will bring a few things, some of them will be similar to 2009 – Facebook will continue to grow, Twitter will still be here, and Google, well let’s just say that it’s not going anywhere (or at least, not that we can see)
But what will be the change? – It will be the way people are using the internet!
2010 will bring the following
- Increased time spent online, and increased buying
- Increased skepticism – People have more choices then ever, if your not giving them gold or better, you’re out!
- Increased business exposure, more businesses are going to be going online, and more specifically into social media
- Decreased philosophical use of social media – Yes unfortunately, more ads will be seen
- Decreased confusion – not because people will have a lightbulb turned on, but because people will not go into the environments of confusion
- Decreased effectiveness – Now this may be odd for a person who makes a living in this field, but I don’t mean that social media and online exposure will not be effective. It more illustrates that people will no longer be able to just put something out, and BAM have a huge following and big success. Plans will become critical, and a greater understanding of how to use social media (and what social media’s to use).
2010 holds a lot of amazing opportunities for business in social media – Are You Ready?
