Today, I want to share a quick time-saving tip that I have been hearing a lot, but thought I would share my insights on it, and also change it for my personal use. The time saving tip is “Only read email 2 times a day”

Just think about the statement for one second – “Only TWICE A DAY”

For a lot of people including myself, that’s a crazy idea. I look at email throughout the day, multiple times a day and have it coming to me through my phone just so I’m 100% on top of it. So what is this plan about then? It’s actually about increasing productivity, and focus while decreasing wasted time.

Just think – How often are you in the middle of something, and stop just to read an email. That email would have waited there for you, but you couldn’t wait for it, and it totally threw off what you were doing. Keeping on this trend, you do this throughout the day – and get only portions of projects done, while blasting out tons of emails. Why? Well because we’re not focusing on one thing – how often have you sent an email, and had to send another to complete a thought, or attach something?

“Only TWICE A DAY”

By keeping focused on one task i.e. writing a blog (hint hint) your job is done more effectively and efficiently. And because you didn’t quickly check emails, when you do take the time to check your in-box, you read what they actually say and replying becomes easier because your not trying to finish something else. Productivity UP, FOCUS UP – lost of time = Decreased.

But Josh, if I don’t get to that email right now – (or from a social media point-of-view) Tweet, Post, Blog, Entry, Comment…(you get the drift) then they’ll go somewhere else.

True, but unlikely. Most people contact a business when they are ready. Yes they want a timely reply, but that doesn’t mean within 30 seconds. They are willing to wait a bit, if your response is amazing and answers their question.

So try with me today, as I’ll only be checking emails at 10:00am, and 3:00pm – Best of luck to all!
