How much time does this really take?

Posted on | November 24, 2009 | No Comments

Today, I had the privilege of working with some amazing people at FaithLife Financial in Waterloo (client). They are an amazing group who are progressive in the attracting new Financial Representatives.

They have set-up a social media campaign – They have a blog (found here) linking to other social media channels where they can engage those thinking of making a career change.

However, today – well today I got a great question – This take a lot of time doesn’t it? (I don’t know if it was a question or a statement, but I’ll take it as a question).

The truth is, social media does take time and the best users embrace this. They spend most of their marketing time online, engaging people and generating conversations. When they are not engaging, they allow themselves to be engaged, and participate in different conversations.

There are tools out there to help make things easier our quicker, but as most people will say “A good conversation takes time.”

So, to answer the question – How much time does this really take – the answer is, how much time do you want to invest, and what are you goals for social media? (Answering a Question with a Question)

In honesty, you looking at between 5 – 20 hours a week, some will even say more (which I do agree with). But think of it this way – How much time do you spend researching, marketing, networking, traveling, showcasing, displaying, presenting? This may make you look at social media in a different light!
